Greece has always been at the top of my travel bucket list, and I finally got to experience it when it became one of the stops on my cruise vacation. Stepping off the ship in Santorini felt surreal—whitewashed buildings, winding cobblestone streets, and pops of blue domes looked exactly like the pictures I’d admired for years. The views of the Aegean Sea were absolutely unreal, especially at sunset. I wandered through charming local shops, tasted fresh Greek food, and soaked in every moment of the island’s magic. It was everything I hoped for and more!
Athens was the next stop on the trip, and it didn’t disappoint. I had the chance to visit the historic Panathenaic Stadium—the birthplace of the Olympic Games—which was surreal to see in person. Standing where the very first Olympians once competed gave me a whole new appreciation for the city’s deep history.
I also hiked up to the Acropolis, and while the climb was a bit of a challenge in the heat, the panoramic views of Athens and the chance to see the Parthenon up close made it more than worth it. There’s something really special about being surrounded by structures that have stood for thousands of years. Athens had such an interesting mix of ancient landmarks and modern energy—I left with a much better understanding of why it’s such a timeless destination.
